Sergei Sobyanin visited Khudozhestvenniy Cinema

Yesterday, the mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin visited the oldest city’s cinema – Khudozhestvenniy, and witnessed the result of its restoration. “The cinema is coming back to Moscow citizens in its former glory, thanks to mastery of restorers”, posted Sergei Sobyanin on his page at VK.com.

Founded in 1909, Khudozhestvenniy was the first Moscow cinema that had its own building. The decision of historical building complex restoration has made by Moscow government. Work, under agreed project, started in the autumn of 2019. The restoration has been made with private investors funds.

The look of main facade was re-established according to the original Fedor Shekhtel’s drawings – decorated terrasit plaster and made as close as possible to the 1913’s form.

Khudozhestvenniy will serve as a cinema of premiers and festival center of our country to present World Cinema in all its diversity.

The project is currently at acceptance-delivery stage. Khudozhestvenniy is planning to welcome its first viewers at the end of December 2020.

We are glad to be involved in this significant project – the restoration of Cultural Heritage Object! Spectrum participated in this project as General designer and Technical customer, and carried out Project management. Our specialists used the latest technologies of digital engineering and BIM management. We particularly proud of Spectrum entering the project at the very early stage and was the author of realization scheme. The complexity of this project was to link all processes, to coordinate all members: international architects, designers, subject-matter consultants, restorers, engineers. We made it! Now, we will have a special feeling visiting this unique cultural space as viewers!
